Summer Day Camp - 2008 Program Areas
Archery – Hit that bull’s eye! Learn how to handle a bow and arrows safely, practice your archery technique, and train your eye.
Arts & Crafts – Unleash your creativity! Learn how to draw everything from cartoon characters to
real life objects, paint with watercolors, do pen and ink drawings, create art
from nature. Enjoy craft projects such as origami, beadwork, friendship
bracelets, clay sculptures.
Boating –Ah, to be out on the water on a hot summer day! Learn to sail or hone your skills. Practice the art of paddling a canoe or kayak. Find out how to handle yourself safely on the water and learn how to right a capsized boat. Explore Echo Lake’s nooks, coves and crannies.
Challenge Course – Step up to the challenges of the low and high ropes! Build teamwork and
leadership skills through group and individual challenges in a safe environment.
Discover the benefits of trust, respect and differences. Develop your agility,
physical coordination, and balance. And be open to learning more about yourself

Nature – Get up close and personal with local flora and fauna! Become a nature sleuth in
the woods, hike a mountain, explore a pond or a tidepool, plant vegetables and
flowers at Beech Hill Farm, help create or maintain a nature trail.
Outdoor Skills – Survive in the wilderness! Learn how to build a campfire, pack for an overnight
trip, navigate with map and compass, create a bivouac shelter and leave no trace
in the wilderness.
Performing Arts – Express yourself! Dance! Sing! Act, recite poetry, write a play or a song,
participate in theater improv games! Prepare a performance for the Friday
all-camp show!
Sports & Games – Play ball! Everyone is invited and there is always room for one more. Come join
a game of volleyball, baseball, softball, ultimate frisbee, basketball,
pickleball, soccer, parachute fun, tag, whiffleball or dodgeball. We stress the
importance of playing games in a friendly, supportive and sportsmanlike way,
focusing on the experiences of camaraderie and physical activity.
Swimming – Come on in – Echo Lake is great! Learn to swim, improve your strokes, develop your efficiency and speed, or play water games with your friends. Each camper has a recreational/ instructional swim period most days. This summer, we are reintroducing Red Cross swim instruction. Work your way up from Level 1 to Life Guard.
