For students wishing to gain experience leading groups, planning activities and serving the community.

Become part of a team that positively changes the lives of younger kids -- help pass on the Camp Beech Cliff experience to others!

Note: There is a selective application process for the CIT program. After you send in your regular camp registration form, we will send you the CIT application packet.

The CIT Program provides training for students interested in working with kids, particularly as camp counselors. Participants are expected to interact thoughtfully and compassionately with younger campers; to commit to learning more about themselves, camp and camp processes; to be team members and to take on responsibility and leadership.

CIT- 1 These two-week sessions focus on helping you become future leaders by developing communication, teamwork and leadership skills. Activities combine fun and learning. You will build strong friendships and develop a good work ethic that can be used in any leadership experience. Program components range from team building on the challenge courses to first aid training, goal setting, problem-solving and time management skills. CIT-1s will have the opportunity to learn about each of the CBC program areas. You will develop a basic understanding of program planning and child development. You will also plan and participate in out-of-camp day trips in the beautiful natural areas that Mount Desert Island has to offer.

The primary goal of the CIT-1 program is to offer a fun and supportive experience that will develop confidence, commitment, and community and leave you ready to take on more responsibility in the second year as a CIT-2.

CIT- 2 These 4-week sessions prepare you to become a junior camp staff member. CIT-2s are expected to assume increased and appropriate responsibilities in selected program areas under the watchful eyes of a senior staff member. You will apply the skills you learned as a CIT-1 and continue to develop further skills, including lifeguard training. All CIT-2s are expected to take the final exams to acquire their Lifeguard Certification.

To register, visit our Forms section and fill out our 2008 Summer Camp Registration Form.
