Summer Camp

Teen Leadership Program

Hikers enjoy a high view

The Teen Leadership Program at Camp Beech Cliff provides a unique challenge for highly motivated individuals who wish to share their love of challenge and also serve the community. You will be stretched to reach for new skills. You will connect with staff and campers. Mostly, though, you will become part of a community second to none – one of caring, teaching and changing young peoples lives. Interested?

We offer three kinds of leadership development programs for teens entering grades 9 through 11, and one for teens entering grades 7 and 8. Teens are encouraged take advantage of the full range of opportunities by combining two or more sessions for a rich and full summer.

Counselor-in-Training Program for those wishing to gain experience leading groups, planning activities and serving the community. Available to teens entering grades 9 -11; requires an application process.

Acadia Leadership Experience combines leadership development and community service with locally-based adventure programming. Available to teens entering grades 9 -11; requires an application process.

Maine Adventure Trips combine leadership development with outdoor skills for those enjoying a challenge. Available to teens entering grades 7 through 11.

Teen Leadership Program Involves Risks: Please Read
As with all programs that we embark on, risk is inescapable. There will be times when our groups are many hours or possibly days away from the advanced medical care of a hospital. While we require our leaders to have Wilderness First Responder medical certification we cannot control all variables. Please acknowledge and accept these risks prior to registering your son/daughter.

We practice our belief that establishing an atmosphere of physical and emotional well being is key in setting participants up to see the natural world around them with wonder, understanding and respect, and to work and communicate with themselves and others in an effective, peaceful way. It is through these avenues that we help people to grow into more effective, responsible members of the natural and modern communities they are a part of.
